Speak to Someone Who Understands
The ‘Mates in my Shoes’ program connects newly diagnosed cancer patients with other patients, survivors and caregivers. We match people according to their commonalities such as age, cancer type, time since diagnosis, interests, profession, past times, living situation and geographic location.
This program gives cancer patients the opportunity to speak with someone who can relate and empathise with their current situation. This program can help minimise feelings of isolation and decreases psychosocial distress.
